Dan Jacoby
was born in New York City, and raised mostly in Michigan and
Indiana (not his idea -- his parents moved when he was seven
and he didn't get a vote). After graduating from Wabash
College, Dan moved back to NYC in 1984 and has lived here
his entire adult life. In 1988, Dan moved to western Queens,
first to Long Island City and then to Woodside, and hasn't
looked back.
Dan is an
actor, computer programmer, math tutor, and political
activist. He was drawn to this campaign because there are
many issues facing the state, and the state legislature,
that he feels are not being addressed. He has entered this
race to give voice to these issues, to create momentum for
dealing with them, and to propose innovative solutions based
on fresh ideas.
In 2005
alone, Dan was instrumental in helping bring reform to the
state Assembly, joined the successful fight against building
a west side stadium, and is currently fighting to ensure
that the new voting systems New York is buying will be
reliable and legitimate.
Dan is a
member of Democracy for NYC, Citizen Action and the New York
Civil Liberties Organization, as well as all three of the
major acting unions. Locally, Dan is also a member of the
Anoroc Democratic Club and the United Forties Civic
Association. His experience in life, politics and community
affairs has given Dan Jacoby a unique perspective on how to
address issues such as education, energy policy, government
reform, and much more.
In his spare time, Dan has run the New York City Marathon
every year since 1987.
